Calivale Keeshond Kennels began in March 1993 in the suburb of Leichhardt in Sydney's inner-west. Brad Santas began Calivale out of an interest in the breed as pets and as show dogs.

Brad's first Keeshond was the bitch, Australian Champion Colijn Dutch Velvet (Velvet, pictured right) that he titled himself and purchased in 1986 from Colijn Keeshonds owned by the late Beryl and Gordon Douglas. This was at age 16 for Brad, and he has not looked back!

Katrina Oliver teamed up with Brad in late 1998 bringing her two Australian Champion Kees to the kennels.  These were Australian Champion Rymiska Fox Mulder (Fox) and Australian Champion Rymist Sugar N Spice (Scully, pictured left, respectively).

Together, they now bring Calivale to where it is today.

To date, Calivale has:

bred: 18 Australian Champions;

owned and titled: 22 Australian Champions;

owned and titled: 1 Grand Champion;

owned, trained and titled: 1 to Endurance Test

AND...

owned or bred the sire and / or dam of many champions bred at outside kennels.

This is certainly an excellent report card for such a young kennel.

Calivale puppies are currently living all around Australia.  Calivale has a comprehensive policy about the stud work and ownership of Keeshonds it produces and owns.  Refer to our Purchasing a Puppy section for further details.

Calivale Keeshonds is a registered breeders prefix with the Royal New South Wales Canine Council and co-ordinates its activities in accordance with the policies of the Council.  Brad and Katrina are committed to the Keeshond breed and the world of dogs in general.
