About Us

In 1986, I purchased my first Keeshond, a bitch, from the late Beryl & Gordon Douglas "Colijn Keeshonds". Velvet or Ch Colijn Dutch Velvet who gained her title in a short period, with no thanks to my novice handling. This was to be the start of my (so far) 25 year involvment in the Dog World.

In October 1998 Katrina and I partnered up and for the next 12 years, Katrina was part of Calivale. In February 2010, Katrina decided to move on and I wish her well with her own breeding program in the future.

Boxers joined the Keeshonds in 1999, thanks to Dianne & Dennis Bradshaw of Ozstock Boxers, who gave us our first dog to show Ch Ozstock Bear Buttnall and then the bitch Ozstock Lucy Lastic.

We then had a short stint in Whippets, importing the bitch Ch Shenkhan Gotchawatchnme At Calivale (Imp NZ) with many thanks to Merle Powley Shenkhan Whippets NZ. Jorja gained her Australian Championship Title winning Best in Group awards along the way. She was mated to Ch Tezer Feel Free to Stare and produced a lovely litter of pups. "Tilly" who is now BISS Calivale Rite About Now, was one of the pups who is now owned by Kaz Cleave and has done well in the show ring.

I now have to of the best assistants, my two Children Lauren & Lachlan. Lauren is a great handler and has been seen to beat Dad on more than one occasion. Lachlan whilst not interested in showing is a great helper - and both love the dogs!

Over the past 25 years, I have served as President, Secretary, Treasurer & Committee member of many Specilaty and All Breeds Clubs. I have always made myself and my dogs available for Judges Training and to Trainee judges.

I am ANKC approved Non Sporting Judge and a Trainee judge in the Gundog & Utility group.

To date, Calivale has:

Bred: 45 Australian Champions, 3 Australian Grand Champions,  1 UK Champion, 2 NZ Champions & 1 Canadian & American Champion

We have titled 25 Australian Champions & 3 Australian Grand Champions bred by other people.

Have 4 dogs with their Endurance Test Title

Owned or Bred the sire and / or dam of many champions bred at outside kennels.

And

Imported dogs from UK, Canada, America & New Zealand

Exported dogs to UK, New Zealand & Canada

This is certainly an excellent report card for such a young kennel.

Calivale puppies are currently living all around Australia.  

Calivale Keeshonds is a registered breeders prefix with the Dogs NSW (RNSWCC) and co-ordinates its activities in accordance with the policies of the Council. 

I am committed to the Keeshond breed and the world of dogs in general.
